History of the Church

In the beginning, God gave the Pastor and the Assistant Pastor a vision of the Church of Berachah. The Church of Berachah was initially established in the home of Pastor Patricia in the year of 2003. It is affiliated with the Christ Holy Sanctified Church of America, by whom the Pastor was ordained. God had told Bishop Mize to make Patricia Pastor of The Lighthouse Tabernacle, on the corner of 25th and Grand Avenue in Spokane. But it did not come to fruition.

So, in 2003, the Church of Berachah moved to St. John’s Lutheran Church, on 3rd Avenue, and held services at 1:00pm on Sundays. The church flourished and continued to grow, and had many outreach ministries there. But when that building was sold, the Church found itself looking for a new location and moved into a church on Cochran St. in West Spokane. It was a tough neighborhood called “Felony Flats.” There were many souls to be saved there, so we liked the location! The church thrived, and the ministry spread its wings again, saving souls for the glory of God! When the rent was raised there by more than double, we searched for yet another location. Pastor Patricia was told by The Holy Spirit to call Bishop Mize to ask if she could rent The Lighthouse Tabernacle on Sundays after their services. Bishop Mize responded, “Baby, that church is EMPTY, COME ON UP!” It turns out there were lots of Pastors that came and went at the location and the Lighthouse Tabernacle ended.

God had called Pastor Patricia to pastor the Lighthouse Tabernacle, and seven years later in August of 2010, Pastor Patricia and the Church of Berachah took its place at that location, fulfilling God’s will for the church! Saints of God later told Pastor Patricia that she should have been there with the Church of Berachah all along. In 2010, God revolutionized Berachah’s life. He has revealed to the Church in a powerful way, His amazing Grace, and by God’s Grace, Pastor Patricia and the Church was home at last, and continues there to this day!

The Church of Berachah is one of the oldest churches still standing in Spokane. Above is a photo of the church’s cornerstone which was laid in 1887, when the church’s sanctuary was constructed. It was built mostly out of Basalt stone which is found in vast quantities on Spokane’s South Hill.
